About Jamie Sinclair
Jamie has been painting and drawing as a way of expressing himself since he was a child. It was his form of escape and exploring the visual world. Even before he really understood what that meant. As Bob Ross once said about the canvas, ‘This is your world and you can do anything you want.’
He was always drawn to portraits and wildlife artwork and fantasy art. His influences ranged from comics such as 2000AD, Spiderman and X-men and The Crow all the way over to the great renaissance artists. He was fascinated with detail and trying to understand how artists hundreds of years ago managed to paint such amazing and life like paintings. His goal was and still is to achieve that. Not just the details but the emotions and soul as well.
While Jamie probably best know for airbrush paintings, he also spend time drawing and sketching. Understanding form and tone. While you can be a good artist without being great at drawing, he believe you are better if you study gesture and composition. For these studies he often use either graphite pencil or charcoal and some times a mix of the two.
Most of his art is done with the airbrush. While he might return to the traditional paint brush one day, when he started painting at 17 I struggled with the brush. It felt clumsy and unnatural. It was not until he picked up an airbrush around 2005 that he felt like he had found his way. Airbrushing is very versatile and can paint on a wide range of surfaces. The paints that are available are amazing both in terms of colour and what you can do with them. Between the paints and the tool he could spend a life time experimenting and trying new things.
Jamie hope over the years to come you will continue to visit his website and view his latest works. He will always try to make his work varied and exciting. It might not always be what you expect but he will try to make it something that is exciting and challenging.
