About Helen Rawlings
Helen is an artist currently living and working in North Yorkshire finding most of my inspiration from my beautiful surroundings. She has always enjoyed painting animals and birds, also accepting commissions for animal portraits.
After having completed an Illustration course at Harrow School of Art (University of Westminster) she were asked to paint a portrait of a friend’s horse and things sort of snowballed from there. Working almost exclusively in watercolour she completed many commissions, painting in a very tight and lifelike style.
Too many adventures to recount in this space, but in a nutshell; Helen stopped painting for a living, joined the police, moved to Brighton, got married, retired, got a degree in theology and ordained as a self-supporting minister in the Church of England, started painting for a living again. Soon after this she moved to a parish in North Yorkshire and widened her scope of media in my art, working in a slightly looser style.
Helen love experimenting with new techniques, and now, although my subject matter may be around a similar theme, her method of work is very varied, from egg tempura icons, to large bold acrylics as well as different hand printing techniques.
