Workshop is £53.00 per person materials included

Date Thursday, 26th August 2021

Times – 10.00am to  4.00pm

Suitable for all abilities, beginners to experienced artists.

The workshop will be either the Lion (as above) and will cover all aspects from selection of reference material to the finished drawing.

There is no expectation that students will finish the drawing, everyone works at their own speed and will be supported throughout, Students are welcome to finish their work at home, and I will happily give them further advice via email.

The workshop will be working in graphite pencil, on hot press water colour paper; we will be exploring what makes a good wildlife drawing and choosing good reference material.

We will work from references supplied by myself, using the grid method to ensure correct proportions and subject placement within the paper.

We will work through initial drawing techniques, learning ways to break down the subject into simple shapes and lines.

We will work through creating good tonal ranges within the work, using pencils and paper blenders, to give a 3 dimensional feel, learning the importance of contrast between dark shadows and highlights.

Finally we will look at the details that finish off the piece.

Students will not be expected to finish the work, they will be encouraged to work at a comfortable pace, with plenty of individual support, work can be finished at home and students are welcome to post me images of their work and I am happy to give guidance.

With regard to materials, I supply pencils, erasers, blenders, reference, etc. at no extra cost, these are for use during the workshop and not to keep,

The paper and printing the reference material works are included in the workshop price.
